Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures in the Operating Room.
• Maintain the sterile environment by adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
• Perform instrument counts and ensure all supplies and instruments are prepared and available before procedures.
• Prepare patient skin, position, and re-position patients as needed during surgery.
• Monitor patients during surgery and support pre-operative and intra-operative care.
• Handle specimens correctly and ensure proper routing.
• Maintain current knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medications, and surgical procedures.
• Keep updated on field developments through seminars, workshops, and publications.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a large Operating Room setting.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a surgical technician training program or graduation from an accredited school.
• Certified Surgical Technician credential (NBSTSA or NCCT) verified at interview, or ten (10) years of experience.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Health and Safety.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with orthopedic, ENT, and/or vascular surgeries is a plus.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records preferred, but training available.
• Flexible team player accustomed to a fast-paced environment.
